In year 5, we started our school yearworking on living things: cells, parts of a cell, organization of cells and kingdoms. We finished our topic creating a 3-dimensional model of an animal or a plant cell. We used some great materials. Some were edible: slices of bread with or without crust, jam, cheese, pâté, jellies, crisps, biscuits, chorizo, sweets, olives; others were non-edible: Plasticine, yarn, little balls, tops, etc… Cells should be the proper shape and organelles should be accurate too (chloroplasts are green!). We labeled all parts of the cell and we gave our project a name. We really enjoyed the activity and we had a great and ‘delicious’ time!
